On January 8, 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex released a statement on their Instagram account.

It said the following:

Since the split from the British Royal Family, Prince Harry and Meghan have created the life they deserve.

Here are some highlights.

Officially, Prince Harry and Meghan began their new lives at the end of March 2020. They briefly returned to the United Kingdom for a couple royal engagements.

Then Prince Harry and Meghan launched their Archewell website in April 2020. The Archewell umbrella includes Archewell Productions, Archewell Audio, and the Archewell Foundation.

Then months later, Prince Harry and Meghan announced incredible deals with Netflix and Spotify. Cementing their financial independence and freedom for life.

The first Netflix project is called ‘Heart of Invictus’ that follows wounded soldiers competing in Prince Harry’s Invictus Games.

The second Netflix project is called ‘Pearl’ and that is an animated children’s programme Meghan is creating with David Furnish.

In March 2021, Prince Harry and Meghan gave a 2 hour CBS interview to the legendary Oprah Winfrey. An interview that set the record straight after years of lies being told against them.

Then in May 2021, Prince Harry and Oprah released their mental health documentary ‘The Me You Can’t See’ on AppleTV+. If you haven’t watched it, please do. AppleTV+ offers a free 7 day trial.

Then on June 4th, Prince Harry and Meghan welcomed their daughter Lili in California. In a statement, they said:

This is the second child for the couple, who also have a two-year-old son named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. The Duke and Duchess thank you for your warm wishes and prayers as they enjoy this special time as a family.

The same month, Meghan released her New York Times Best Selling Book ‘The Bench’. The Bench is based on a Father’s Day poem she wrote for Harry.

Also, it was announced that Prince Harry would be releasing a memoir in the Fall of 2022.

In August, Meghan celebrated her birthday by launching the 40x40 initiative. In a statement, she said:

I believe mentorship is one way to help women regain confidence and rebuild their economic strength, and for my birthday, I have asked 40 friends, activists, athletes, artists, and world leaders to help kickoff a global effort by contributing 40 MINUTES OF MENTORSHIP to support women re-entering the workforce. With this time, I hope they each help someone advance a professional life on her own terms, and, I hope that they inspire countless others to give 40 minutes of their time as well.

Then in December, Meghan beat Associated Newspapers. She won the court case against Associated Newspapers after they published part of a private 2018 letter she wrote to her father.

The Court of Appeal rejected Associated Newspapers’ attempt to bring the privacy and copyright case to trial. The Associated Newspapers has paid an undisclosed amount to Meghan.

So without a doubt, Prince Harry and Meghan leaving the British Royal Family was the best decision for their family.

All the best to them and their supporters in 2022.
