Journalism matters.

According to the American Press Institute:

The purpose of journalism is thus to provide citizens with the information they need to make the best possible decisions about their lives, their communities, their societies, and their governments.

Journalists know how important their job is.

Journalists are also well aware that they have the ability to shape people’s views.

So why would journalists choose to amplify hate accounts?

Reminder: Hate accounts have been suspended on social media platforms for posting vile comments, photoshopping images, spreading misinformation, and threatening people’s lives.

But why would journalists disregard their creditability by doing this?

And why would creditable news organizations work with people that do this?

So it matters that journalists are doing this to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

If journalists are willing to do this to them, who else are journalists willing to do this to?
